"Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to decieve." -Sir Walter Scott
I think this means that when you lie you'll eventually have to tell another lie, and another so eventually you are left with a huge mess of lies you can't find your way out of.
I know that everyone simply says don't lie then but its not that easy is it? I mean, everyones lied in their life. But even white lies can get you into trouble. If you are just trying to protect someone you might tell a little white lie but at the end of the day "A half truth is a whole lie". You always get found out in the end.
Everyone must of heard the story "The boy who cried wolf"? I love it and the first time I ever heard it I nearly cried! The story has such a strong message it gives out. Here is the story if you haven't read it:
Once upon a time there was a boy who had to look after sheep. It was a very boring job sitting there on the hillside, day after day. One day he decided to play a trick on the shepards. "I'll pretend a wolf is coming to eat the sheep!" So he stood up and cried "Wolf! Wolf!" The shepards ran over. "Where is the wolf?" They cried. Calmly the boy said "there is no wolf, it was just a joke." The shepards went back to there sheep but the little boy was still bored. "I think i'll play another trick" he thought. Again he stood up and cried "Wolf! Wolf!" and once again the shepards came rushing over. "There is no wolf here!" they all shouted. This time the boy was laughing so much he had to sit down. "I tricked you again!" he giggled. The shepards grumbled and went back to their sheep again. The boy decided to take a nap in the grass. Suddenly he woke up to a strange noice. He looked round and there was a huge WOLF! The boy screamed and screamed but nobody came. "It is just that little boy playing tricks again" they thought. The wolf killed the little boy and the sheep and maybe that taught the little boy not to lie!
Recently somebody told me a real life version of this story. A little girls sister has died and she was looking for comfort from her friends but she had told lies so often nobody believed her.
I don't think anyone realises how harmful a lie can be until one catches you out.
mmm. Write soon :)

Inspiring.
ReplyDeleteYou nearly cried at that story? Aaaw, (hahaa). I think I laughed at the boy when he got eaten.
I have a feeling that everyone lies too much.
